Publication Date: September 8, 2023

Genre: Slow-burn Romantic Fantasy

Some goals are harder to achieve than others.

Violet has only three, each one more impossible than the last: cure her sick sister, get a better job, and on the off chance she manages the first two—it would be great if she could avoid accidentally snatching souls along the way.

Sounds easy, right? Wrong.

When she finds herself trapped in the realm between the human world and the fae, Violet realizes no one’s coming to save her. But it’s not the rescue she needs—it’s the escape.

Her plan might work, but it could have a soul-rending outcome for everyone around her.

Blake can kill with a touch, but when the Black Queen commands, refusal is never an option.

To complete a ridiculous quest, Blake makes a deal with a Troll, setting off a chain of events that leads him to a castle filled with the dead and a soul-stealing woman with magic as dark as his.

As their fates become entwined, Violet and Blake find themselves on a perilous journey to unravel one of the greatest crimes in fae history, but it’s not just fate that Violet has to worry about—it’s the enigmatic knight whose grip on her heart grows stronger with every step.

Blog Tour: Love is an Art – Kathy Strobos

He hates lawyers. So I’m a lawyer pretending to be an artist. Forgetting one tiny detail: I can’t paint.

Tessa: There’s something about the way the blond guy laughs and leans in to listen. My gaze keeps returning to him.
The only problem is, we’re at an art gallery after work, and I’ve swapped my lawyer suit for a paint-splattered shirt. I’m pretending to be a struggling artist, acting as bait to entice a scammer who conned my friend out of thousands of dollars.
I look pathetic. But still, I approach Hot Guy.
Our glances meet, and an awareness shimmers across.
He offers to buy me a drink–we’re definitely flirting–and then he asks me what I do.
Just when Scammer Guy is in earshot.
I have no choice but to say I’m an artist. I can tell Hot Guy later that I’m not.
But then he says he hates lawyers.
Now what?

Zeke: She’s the worst artist I’ve ever seen.
And I hate that that makes me suspect that she’s lying to me. After my ex-girlfriend cheated on me, trust is in short supply.
She makes me laugh, and it’s one adventure after another with her. Definitely different from my workaholic lawyer ex.
Maybe it’s time to give love a second chance.

All is fair in love and litigation, but when truth and deception clash, can you trust your heart?

*The romcom books in this series are interconnected standalones set in the same world. Each can be read as a pure standalone with a guaranteed happily ever after.

Kathy Strobos is a writer living in New York City with her husband and two children, amid a growing collection of books, toys and dollhouses. She previously worked as a lawyer before switching careers to write romantic comedies full-time and get in shape.

Born and raised in Manhattan, she loves writing about New York City and the accomplished heroines who live and fall in love there, amidst its vibrant energy and the aroma of homemade chocolate chip cookies. She is the author of A Scavenger Hunt for Hearts, Partner Pursuit, Is This for Real?, Caper Crush, My Book Boyfriend and Love Is an Art.
She is still working on getting in shape.

My thoughts: this is another fun, and funny, rom com from Kathy Strobos, this time featuring a lawyer called Tessa, pretending to be an artist (for a good cause) and Zeke, a finance guy not pretending to be anything.

Tessa is helping out a friend by going undercover as an artist to catch a scammer who has been setting artists up and getting thousands of dollars out of them. It’s something she enjoys doing – getting justice. And not just at work, she also volunteers for a non-profit, helping out innocent people with legal advice and representation. Except she can’t tell Zeke that. 1, scam man is right there and 2, Zeke hates lawyers. His ex was one and that’s a big red flag for him.

But he likes Tessa, she’s fun, crazy things keep happening around her, he gets involved with her various investigations and when they work together on a case involving both of their employers, he can’t cope. How can he forgive her for lying to him and get over the whole being a lawyer thing?

Luckily Tessa is up to the challenge of winning Zeke over, and showing him that not all lawyers are the worst. Thankfully for us readers, there’s a lot of fun to be had while doing so. Also a lot of food, seriously don’t read this if you’re hungry, eat first. There’s also a cute dog and I love a pet in a story so good news all round. Enjoy!

Blog Tour: The Curse of Moonseed Manor – D. Lieber

A haunted hotel. A skeptical photographer. A deadly curse that could cost her everything.
Wren Mabry’s life is a disaster. Her last few years have been rife with tragedy and hardship. So when she’s offered a job at Moonseed Manor, a Gothic revival mansion that’s never welcomed visitors, it
seems suspicious. Even so, this is her chance to finally turn her life around.
The gloom that hangs over Moonseed Manor is enhanced by its cold yet alluring owner, Mr. William Courtland Bennings. And the spooky tales of the flirtatious and sexy caretaker, Watt, play up that feeling.
Even though Wren doesn’t believe in ghosts or curses, she’s always had a flair for the darker side.
And when she finds a handwritten book of poetry filled with longing, terror, and ghostly revenge, it reawakens her very soul—or rather the unknown poet does.
Love, death, secrets, and lies await in this gothic romance.

Amazon Barnes & Noble Universal

D. Lieber has a wanderlust that would make a butterfly envious. When she isn’t planning her next physical adventure, she’s recklessly jumping from one fictional world to another. Her love of reading led her to earn a Bachelor’s in English from Wright State University.
Beyond her skeptic and slightly pessimistic mind, Lieber wants to believe. She has been many places—from Canada to England, France to Italy, Germany to Russia—believing that a better world
comes from putting a face on “other.” She is a romantic idealist at heart, always fighting to keep her feet on the ground and her head in the clouds.
Lieber lives in Wisconsin with her husband (John) and cats (Yin and Nox).

My thoughts: as someone figuring out their next life move, I completely empathised with Wren, her dad died, her mum has basically turned into a different, and not very nice, person, she’s juggling two jobs, struggling to get by and so the opportunity of a live in, well paid photography job is one she jumps at.

But it’s at a slightly sinister, supposedly haunted manor on an island in the middle of Lake Ontario, in upstate New York, further from her sister and friends. She takes the offer anyway, maybe it’ll be a short term thing but worth it.

Meeting the other employees, and her new boss, calms her worries, they all seem pretty ok, even if Mr Bennings is a bit strange. Flirty handyman/gardener Watt does his best to get her into trouble and himself into her knickers, but Wren keeps him at bay. Besides she’s come to realise her employer is the most haunted thing on the island.

Helping Corey (as Mr Bennings likes to be called) makes Wren happy, he’s been struggling alone for so long, if she can rescue him from the family curse, perhaps they can be together. But when things go wrong, will their newly found love last?

Sweet and spooky, this is a perfect seasonal read, with a protagonist you can root for.

Blog Tour: Take Me Home – Beth Moran

Sophie Potter’s job is helping people deal with the worst, because Sophie Potter knows what the worst feels like.
An expert at keeping moving, with her trusty motorhome and faithful dog Muffin, Sophie has built her life around keeping her loves and loyalties as few as possible.
Fabulous fifty-something Hattie Langford has kept her heart and past safely stored away too. But for reasons she’s only willing to share with a stranger, Hattie needs to tell the story her family has been
hiding at Riverbend, their home in Sherwood Forest. There is a history of heartbreak and hurt that Hattie is ready to face.
As Sophie helps Hattie uncover the secrets of generations of women who have lived at Riverbend, along with the stories of the men they have loved and lost, they start to see echoes in their own pasts. And as Riverbend shares its biggest secret of all, can Hattie and Sophie finally embrace the
lives they’ve put on hold for so long, and risk their hearts to men who can break the Riverbend curse?

be found most mornings walking with her spaniel Murphy. She has the privilege of also being a foster carer to teenagers, and enjoys nothing better than curling up with a pot of tea and a good story.

My thoughts: Sophie has an unusual job, helping clear up the things the recently deceased leave behind, possessions and admin, for the bereaved. She travels from place to place in her trusty campervan with pooch Muffin at her side but fears staying in one place after losing her family and her home.

But invited to Riverbend by the eccentric artist Hattie Hood, to help her sort out her home and her things just in case she’s running out of time. But it’s the story of the women of Riverbend is what she really needs to share.

Hattie is also an art therapist, and by including Sophie in her work, she helps her start to deal with her grief and fear, just in time for Sophie to fall in love, with Riverbend and Gideon.

The book is sweet and sad, heartbreaking at times and so warm and full of love, it’s just the most cosy and enjoyable hug of a book. Perfect for this rainy, cold time of year.

Cover Reveal: Christmas at the Cabin – Rebecca Boxall

A festive, coming-of-age tale about an Oxbridge candidate and a young homeless man who find themselves in the bittersweet predicament of falling in love with exactly the right person at exactly the wrong time.

Well-to-do Jed never imagined he’d end up homeless, but family circumstances have made it his only option. Local vicar, Ben, tries to help him but there’s an element of self-punishment to the homelessness that makes Jed continue to put up with his situation – until disaster leads him to re-consider the vicar’s offer of a place to stay.

Hattie is on the cusp of adulthood, frantically trying to persuade her mum that she doesn’t want to attend an elite university, preferring the idea of pursuing her love of art and textiles. When she meets Jed, she badly wants to understand his circumstances and why, when she has everything at her fingertips, he doesn’t.

Hattie’s mum, Christine, has had a hard life and is desperate for more for her only child. When she meets Ben, the vicar who’s trying to help Jed, she finds an unlikely ally, and the two heartbroken souls find themselves drawn to each other. Until they find their relationship suddenly tested to the limit.

One thing’s for certain: none of these characters is looking forward to Christmas. It’s the worst time of year for each of them, for different reasons. But perhaps this year, the festive season could defy all expectations.

Rebecca Boxall is the award-nominated author of five bestselling novels – Christmas at the Vicarage, Home for Winter, Christmas on the Coast, The Christmas Forest and Christmas by the Lighthouse. She is also the author of Christmas at the Farmhouse and her popular short story, A Winter’s Day.

An overachiever who needs the money, two members of the college baseball team she works for—and her jerk ex-stepbrother—get down for the cameras in this steamy, angsty why choose romance.

In retrospect, putting up a flier advertising that I was planning to lose my v-card on camera—and was looking for a partner—isn’t the best idea I’ve ever had. I’m the Type A one, the person who does all the work on the group project. I’ve never even thought about doing something like this, but I don’t have a choice: I need fast cash so my sister can achieve her dreams.

No one even answers my ad…until I’m sitting at an off-campus café, looking over the questions I prepared like this is a job interview—

And he shows up.

I can’t do this. We shouldn’t do this. He’s on the college baseball team that I work for. I could lose my job. He could get cut from the team.

We shouldn’t do this… until we do. And we definitely shouldn’t get his best friend—who might have a crush on me, who might have a crush on him—involved. Or my ex-stepbrother, who’s threatening to take custody of my sister.

And I shouldn’t get involved with them all at once. Suddenly, I’m involved in a group project of an entirely different kind, one that definitely can’t last. I said yes on camera—a lot of yes—but do I have the courage to say yes to my happily ever after?

A captive princess.
A rogue dragon shifter.
A bond that could save or doom them all.

Unlike my sisters, I was never arranged to marry a monster. I was imprisoned from birth.

I have a unique gift and my father– the King of Solaria–fears it. Yet, he’s far too curious about how my magic works to let me go.

Everything changes the day I’m pulled from my cell. It’s never happened before. The only explanation is that I’ve outlived my usefulness. Except, it’s not a chopping block awaiting my head. It’s a handsome rogue in a green cloak.

The man’s a thief who owes the dungeon warden a life debt. To repay it, he’s been tasked with smuggling me out of the kingdom.

I know nothing about him. Not his name. Not even his species. Yet, his alter ego has made it clear that this isn’t just an assignment. I’m his, and though he’ll see me safely out of Solaria, he has no intention of letting me out of his sight.

The monster might want me, but I can assure you the man housing him does not. My father murdered his twin sister and devastated his kingdom.

All it would take is for him to go back on his word, and I might become the means of how he gets his revenge.
