Latest in Beauty – Time to Shine

This little box of goodies is currently in LiB’s summer box line up.

image

Bourjois Cream Blush shade 02 – their cream to powder foundation is super easy to apply and this is a pink colour that would definitely pop on the cheeks, especially with a smoky daytime eye.

image
Pixi lip stain (left) Bourjois blush (right)

Pixi Lip Blush in Youth – looks and feels like a felt tip in a bright, slightly sheer pink. Pixi has become a cult beauty brand this year and these lip stains are very popular.

image

Essie nail polish in peak of chic – not so sure about glittery polish at my age, I certainly loved it years ago.

Elemis Spa @ Home Treat Your Feet footcream – with Shea butter and jojoba oil, this smells lovely and soothes hot tired feet.

Melvita Bio-Excellence Youthful Day Cream – with fruit extracts this cream promises to deliver healthy skin.

James Read Sleep Mask Tan – a self tan that you smooth on before you sleep to moisturise and give your skin a summery glow.

Latest in Beauty – Beauty Awards Finalists

Latest in Beauty’s 2015 Beauty Awards finalists feature more than 30 beauty brands but getting your hands on them is tricky as they sell out fast.

You can select your choice of items, 6, 9 or 15 products for a varied price list.

In the end I went for 6 as a lot of the things I’d have liked had sold out super quick. You can also vote for your favourites.

image

MUA pro-base prime and conceal

CoLab dry shampoo in Monaco

Popband ‘no dent’ hair tie

Carmex original lip balm

Body Shop Wild Argan Oil for face, hair and body

Burt’s Bees beeswax lip balm

Some of these are things I would buy anyway, I missed out on some great products, but I think it might be better to have some things I will definitely use regularly as opposed to more things that sit on the shelf gathering dust.

What products piqued your interest if you took part in the LiB voting?

Latest in Beauty – Get the Gloss

image

I’ve been having issues with the LiB website so this took a while to order. Paypal have driving me crackers for the last two months as well. I definitely need a beauty based treat.

image

The box is very neatly packed with eight products, including several full size items.

image

Salon Science AquaCacteen Hydrasoothe Cooling Spray – Salon Science is a brand I only started hearing about this year. This is a cooling spray, not for your face but for your hair. Full size bottle and it smells quite nice too.

Nails Inc Gel Effect in Regents Place – full size, creamy blue shade (there were two – the other is Downtown – a hot pink, always a surprise as to which you get).

Bourjois Aqua Blush – I’m not a huge fan of liquid blush and out of the three available shades I wound up with a bright pink that really won’t work for me.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse OR – plant oils and vitamin E in this sparkly face, skin and hair oil, from French brand Nuxe.

image

Philip Kingsley Swim Cap – sun protection and chlorine defender for hair. Mine always goes green in swimming pools – the curse of natural blondes – so this is a handy item.

Aurelia Refine & Polish Miracle Balm – instant exfoliator or enzyme mask. Smells good too!

Elemental Herbology Cell Plumping – applied daily this claims to make your skin plumper and more radiant.

Anne Semonia Eye Express Radiance Ice Cube – store in the freezer, pop on your eyes and it reduces redness, puffiness and the dreaded dark circles.

Latest in Beauty – Capital Beauty Box

This is absolutely jam packed with goodies, seriously, look at it!

image

There are 10 items in the box, full and sample sized.

image

Dr Organic Dead Sea Mineral Mask – this has popped up in several different boxes over the last few months, and according to my guinea pig/mother (she loves getting freebies from me) it’s lovely stuff. Will have to give this a go myself.

Colab dry shampoo in Paris – beauty writer and my guru in all things skin, Sali Hughes (buy her book – it’s fab) recommended the Colab dry shampoo ages ago and I picked up London in Superdrug, which is practically scent-free. Paris has a floral fragrance that reminds me of those So… and Impulse body sprays that were all the rage as teenagers. Still I’m sure my perfume will mask it.

image

Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection SPF 30 – I am a sunscreen obsessive, I have Northern European ancestry which means I am so white I’m practically translucent, and slather myself in sunscreen daily. I’ve used this one before and find it works quite well.

Carmex Moisture Plus lip balm in Berry. This has SPF 15, vitamin E and aloe vera. Carmex do make good products, so I reckon this will do the job.

Malin + Goetz trio – a travel sized cleanser, moisturizer and lip moisturizer, all in a handy travel bag. This brand is new to me, but the lip moisturizer in particular attracts me. I have very dry, prone to cracking lips and hopefully this will do the trick.

image

I love perfectly peachy bath & shower gel – possibly the most disappointing item – a sachet of shower gel from a brand that I’ve seen for sale in Poundland –  not exactly too pricey to be more generous. It’s a special packet with advice from Coppafeel about breast cancer awareness – something I doubt most people would read as they shower.

Fudge Urban Hair Art Sprays – spray in hair colour that washes out. I remember having something similar in the 90s. I got Violet Haze, which I don’t see myself using (not exactly office appropriate) but it could be fun for a party.

MUA Mega Volume Mascara – I like MUA but I am very fussy about mascaras so this probably won’t get used by me (my mum hasn’t bought one in years, I keep her supplied).

image

Nails Inc Gel Effect Nail Polish in Soho Place – a turquoise polish from my favourite nail brand, named after one of my favourite areas of London – it’s a win!

And finally, possibly the box’s star item.

image

MUA Eyeshadow Palette in Poptastic – 12 different coloured shadows, which considering I promised to stop wearing the same colour every day is going to come in handy (I am that lazy, making complex make up decisions first thing is too much).

What did you think? Have you bought this box? Do you think you will? Comments please.

Latest in Beauty – The Glamour Summer Edit

As you may have noticed I’m a LiB fan, and especially of their Glamour collaboration boxes. This took a while to get here, but it’s packed with great brands for the summer.

image

Nails Inc is one of my absolute faves, and a full size gel effect polish is a huge yes, there are three shades and I got Kensington Passage – a vivid pink that’ll really pop on my toes in the sandals I haven’t bought yet!

Vita Liberata is a brand that seems to be everywhere this summer – I don’t normally bother with fake tan as I just go orange but this bronzer powder and brush set are a great idea and claims to leave you with a natural looking glow for up to a week.

image

L’Occitane shampoo & conditioner with essential oils. I’ve had these before and they’re great travel size products. Lightly scented and leaves hair shiny.

Bourjois Colour Boost lip crayon in Fuchsia Libre (3 varieties available). Has SPF 15, says it’s waterproof and hydrating. Might be a dupe for my beloved, but pricey Clinique chubby sticks. I haven’t road tested it yet.

Balance Me Super Toning Body Polish – if I’m honest body polish sounds like a fancy way of saying body lotion that you wash off. My legs need a boost before I expose them so I’ll give this a go as other products from this range have been quite pleasant.

image

Pixi Glow Tonic – I rarely use toner, still not entirely convinced it has a point. This is alcohol free and hypoallergenic, both are a bonus in my book.

Caudalie Divine Oil for body, face & hair. I’ve tried to like face oils but my skin breaks out, however my hair adores them (my hairdresser was impressed at how healthy my hair has become after using argan oil while it’s wet), so this will end up on my hair not my skin.

Eucerin SPF 50+ Sun Fluid Mattifying for face. Suitable for sensitive skin. I am very keen on good sunscreen, but apparently anything over SPF 30 is the same. Also most SPFs are tested on animals and until I can determine whether this was, I might just stick to the ones I know are not.

image

Seekers of the Sun temporary tattoos – another box that thinks we’re all still six and want to adorn ourselves with these ridiculous things! They look good for about five seconds. However I did see on Instagram that someone has used some to make nail art and that sounds intriguing.

image

All in all a good mix of full and sample sized items, they’re are also discounts available for all the brands included. Will definitely be having a play with most of this box.

Latest in Beauty – Heart Beauty Essentials

Latest in Beauty’s latest collaboration is with radio station Heart FM.

The box contains a mix of 13 full and sample size products. £18.95 + P&P.

Nails Inc. Gel Effect Hyde Park Place

Kneipp Devil’s Claw Herbal Bath

Green People Sun Lotion SPF15 with Tan Accelerator

image

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue

philosophy 3 in 1 cleanser

Wild About Beauty Eye Shadow in 08 Polly

Vichy Idealia Life Serum

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels

image

Balance Me Radiance Face Mask

Le Couvent des Minimes Cloisters Hand Cream

Amie Hydrating Daily Moisturiser

Face Cloth

image

And if you enter the coupon code HAIRSPRAY you get this free.

image

The only link to Heart (which my dad listens to!) is the heart shaped face cloth (which expands in water -haven’t seen one of these since I was a kid).

Overall it’s a nice selection of things, and definitely worth the money as some of these items on their own are quite pricey (Nails Inc I’m looking at you!)

Next up from LiB is the Glamour Beauty Edit box for Summer. Will you be buying it? Or the Heart box?

Are you a member of the Libbie Club? (I’ve applied).

Let me know in the comments.

Latest in Beauty – Little Bath Box

image

This was a random purchase (especially as I don’t have a bath tub) but would make a great present.

It contains several products that I will definitely make some use of.

– 3 sachets of Dr Organic Dead Sea Mineral Mud Mask.

– Roques Oneil Therapie Himalayan Detox Salts.

– Kneippe Herbal Bath Balancing in Lavender.

– Orange and Clove 100% Plant Wax candle.

– Sanctuary Spa White Lily & Damask Rose Body Lotion.

Latest in Beauty Clinique British Beauty Blogger Edit

image

Contains: Liquid Facial Soap, Moisture Surge, Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, Take the Day Off Make-up Remover, High Impact Mascara, Happy perfume & Chubby Stick in Plumped Up Pink.

Bonus; £10 voucher for Clinique.co.uk
Free make up/skincare test and free gift.

image

I really like Clinique products but the price tag puts me off splashing out too often. I like the fact that they’re allergen free, contain no perfumes or any other nasties that set off my sensitive skin.

This box, curated by the British Beauty Blogger, has a nice mixture of sample sized skincare plus a full size mascara and chubby stick.

I love a chubby stick, but this one is very pink so might not get used as much as some of the others I’ve acquired.

At the moment this box is sold out on Latest in Beauty as it is hugely popular. But if you’re interested in it, keep an eye on the website for a re-stock.

The £10 voucher is a nice touch, allowing you to buy your favourite product at a discount, direct from Clinique. The other bonus item is a free skincare or make up session at a Clinique counter plus a mystery free gift. Again, this is nice, it means you can test out more products and see how they work in combination.

image

The box was £19.95 but contents value is about £45 according to my very quick research.

If you’re a fan of Clinique or looking to test the products this is a nice, easy way to do it.

Latest in Beauty – The Beauty Bible Loves

image

I bought this on a whim. But it’s full of nice goodies and randomly came with three samples of Avon’s Cherish eau de parfum.

image

A mix of sample size and full size products.

Pitrok Crystal deodorant wipes – not something I’ve come across before but probably incredibly useful, especially if you commute in the summer.

Crabtree & Evelyn Verbena & Lavender hand cream, handbag size and nice scent.

Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm sample – you just get one but it seems to be really easy to use and a nice little tester.

Dr Organic Dead Sea Mineral Bio-Plasma Mask – I do like a face mask, and Dr Organic products are usually out of my price range.

Bellapierre Cosmetics volumizing mascara – I’m a bit fussy about mascaras but my mum and bestie do quite well out of that fact.

Rituals Miracle Scrub – a hand scrub which I will be road-testing not on my well moisturised hands but on my boyfriend’s sandpaper palms.

John Masters Organics detangler and shampoo samplers. I was thinking of changing shampoos, well I will be testing this next time I wash my hair.

Latest in Beauty – Glamour Spring Beauty Edit

I don’t get all the Latest in Beauty boxes, unlike most, they’re not monthly as such.

image

But I have bought a couple of the ones curated by Glamour magazine’s beauty editor.

The good thing about LiB is that you can see what products are going to be in the box before you order, so if there’s nothing that interests you then there’s no obligation to buy.

Inside this box is:

image

Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Masque – I have wanted to try Moroccanoil for a while as I’ve heard good things but they’re quite pricey so this is great.

Rimmel Oh My Gloss lipgloss in My Eternity. I don’t often bother with lipgloss and I’m not sure about this shade on me, but it’s sparkly and not too gloopy.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy nail polish in light turquoise. Not a pastel shade = result in my book.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Topcoat – now I don’t need to buy topcoat. I just wish ‘colour’ was spelt correctly.

BeautyUK High Brow all in one brow definition kit – my eyebrows are basically ignored, they don’t need much work.

Model Co Creme Rouge lips and cheeks in Just Peachy – I do like a product with more than one use.

Kiko long lasting stick eyeshadow in a bronze/gold shade. I prefer eye crayons to powder so this will probably get a lot of use.

Nuxe Paris Masque Creme Fraiche 24hr Soothing and Rehydrating Fresh Mask – I think I will be slathering this on, smells nice and would give my skin a treat.

Elie Saab le parfum sampler – a quite strong scent. Might have to let it sit and simmer.

Free 12 month subscription to Glamour magazine – print and digital. Plus entry into a prize draw for over £500 worth of products. This is the USP of the Glamour boxes, a free subscription.
