Glamour Spring Edit

I think the Glamour collaborations with Latest in Beauty are among the best beauty boxes out there.

This one is jammed full of great products to play with as it hopefully warms up outside.

MUA Luxe 10 shade palette (1 of 2 variations) – this palette is gorgeous and MUA is a brand I love.

Morocanoil Treatment Light – I love argan oil, it healed my split ends and adds shine to my hair post wash. So this bottle is a bonus.

Rosie for Autograph Nuit Parfum EDP – funnily enough I just bought this M&S exclusive perfume a week ago. This little bottle will be in my bag to refresh my scent on the go.

Bareminerals Bare skin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation SPF20 – I’ve been hearing good things about this product so I’m looking forward to testing this out.

Illamasqua Precision Ink Eyeliner – I can’t do a perfect cat’s eye flick to save my life but it doesn’t stop me trying and this liquid liner is supposed to be the bees knees.

Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser – a 3-in-1 cleanser to leave skin hydrated and happy – will definitely try this out, my skin needs to glow in this gloom.

Malin+Goetz Vitamin E Face Moisturiser – vitamin E is a skin friendly vitamin, and it boosts sensitive skin too.

There’s also discount vouchers in the box for some of the featured brands.

Who do you get your beauty advice from?

I don’t really buy magazines, I resent spending my money on adverts and pictures of hungry women in over-priced, ugly clothes.

I do buy Glamour, which in the UK often covers issues that affect women, like politics and women in sports, not just celebrities and clothes I would never be able to afford.

And I do read Sali Hughes’ beauty column in The Guardian’s Weekend magazine on Saturdays. I like Sali, she’s no-nonsense, writes about products that she’s tried and that work from a variety of brands and prices.

Last year she published a book Pretty Honest, which expanded on her columns and explored issues around the cosmetics industry and skincare.

Her website features fun interviews with women like Caitlin Moran and Marian Keyes, who I admire as writers and women. I follow Sali on Twitter and Instagram too, where she talks about more than just make up.

In fact it’s one of the two books hanging out in my wardrobe/lady space/hoard. The other is The Goddess Guide, which is purely aspirational.

I also quite like the weekly free magazine The Stylist, and in terms of their beauty advice – the column Trend on Trial is probably the most interesting. Three of their beauty staffers test out the new catwalk make up trends to see how wearable they are in real life. Often to hilarious effect. Worth reading online if you don’t live in the UK (or if you do but don’t see the vendors on your travels).

I also stalk nail trends on instagram, as well as people I admire and want to copy their style. There’s also twitter, pinterest, tumblr and facebook, and I do spend a bit of time ogling pretty things when I should be doing more active or important stuff.

So where do you get your inspiration from? Is there a blogger, instagram account or beauty writer you refer to?

Latest in Beauty – Glamour Spring Beauty Edit

I don’t get all the Latest in Beauty boxes, unlike most, they’re not monthly as such.

image

But I have bought a couple of the ones curated by Glamour magazine’s beauty editor.

The good thing about LiB is that you can see what products are going to be in the box before you order, so if there’s nothing that interests you then there’s no obligation to buy.

Inside this box is:

Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Masque – I have wanted to try Moroccanoil for a while as I’ve heard good things but they’re quite pricey so this is great.

Rimmel Oh My Gloss lipgloss in My Eternity. I don’t often bother with lipgloss and I’m not sure about this shade on me, but it’s sparkly and not too gloopy.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy nail polish in light turquoise. Not a pastel shade = result in my book.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Topcoat – now I don’t need to buy topcoat. I just wish ‘colour’ was spelt correctly.

BeautyUK High Brow all in one brow definition kit – my eyebrows are basically ignored, they don’t need much work.

Model Co Creme Rouge lips and cheeks in Just Peachy – I do like a product with more than one use.

Kiko long lasting stick eyeshadow in a bronze/gold shade. I prefer eye crayons to powder so this will probably get a lot of use.

Nuxe Paris Masque Creme Fraiche 24hr Soothing and Rehydrating Fresh Mask – I think I will be slathering this on, smells nice and would give my skin a treat.

Elie Saab le parfum sampler – a quite strong scent. Might have to let it sit and simmer.

Free 12 month subscription to Glamour magazine – print and digital. Plus entry into a prize draw for over £500 worth of products. This is the USP of the Glamour boxes, a free subscription.
