My thoughts:

This was a really fun romantic comedy set in the not too distant future when we can hopefully travel again. Also there are donkeys, a crazy horse and a van full of fruit!

Lucie and Gavin are NHS nurses in need of a holiday, having spent 18 months on the frontlines of the battle to save lives from Covid-19. They’re burnt out and broken hearted. So Gavin books them a stay on the Greek island of Corfu, in a small village where people seem to live a very long time.

Michalis is a Greek doctor, returned home to Corfu after facing the same struggles in a hospital on Greece’s mainland. He too is in need of a break. His eccentric sister and quiet butcher father are in need of him too.

The village’s president, a slightly nutty woman, is organising a festival of health and decides Michalis shall be the figurehead of her event. Amid all this chaos Lucie and Gavin arrive for their holiday.

The book has some laugh out loud moments as the rather odd residents of the village gear up for their new festival, and tortoises start to take over the villa Gavin has rented. But it also has a lovely summer romance and people hugging and delicious food and is genuinely a bit of a tonic right now. I hope this summer will at least be a little like Mandy’s predicting in this book. We all need it.

This was a fun and funny book, with quite a few rude jokes and lots of innuendo. Kaitlyn and her friends have sex on the brain, mostly because they’re not getting any, and are determined that Kaitlyn at least will get her love life back on track with the handsome Hunter.

However her ex-husband is still hanging around, her kids aren’t impressed and she’s got to deal with evil Sasha and her gravity defying boobs too.

Tremendous fun, very silly but with heart, this is an enjoyable, light-hearted book about love and friendship.

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English.

My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy
little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing romantic comedy is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my
readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

My thoughts:

This was a really enjoyable slice of escapism. I’ve been to Tuscany, many years ago, and it is truly beautiful. So u completely understood Alice’s reasons for wanting to stay there and enjoy the art, history, delicious food and sunshine.

Her former co-stars actually seem like quite nice people and I can see the appeal of recapturing their past triumphs, but also not wanting to deal with all the drama.

The romance was gentle and quite honestly it was the lovely dog she falls for first, very understandable too!

Considering the current sulky weather and ongoing lockdown, this was a dose of much needed sunshine and dreamy Italian countryside. Enjoy while thinking of escaping somewhere wonderful!

My thoughts:

I’ve never used a dating app, I met my husband at work, but my cousin met her husband on one and now they’re having a baby, so it works for some.

However she didn’t go as far as Hannah and Jess do when they run a promotion for their app – Save the Date. Hannah agrees to marry the first person Jess matches her with.

But then she has to get to know her new husband, Toby, and find out whether they can actually be married, which is a lot harder than just having a wedding.

This was a fun read, I liked Hannah and Jess as characters a lot, they felt real and familiar. Hannah’s impulsiveness and Jess’ own struggles with her family, her relationship and her business were genuine and realistic.
