My Little Box – Summer Vibes

The MLB gang are getting all set for summer with June’s box, featuring a lovely beach vista on the box and a host of summery themed items.

image

First up is a Kusmi iced tea powder sachet – I love iced tea so will be whipping up a jug of this (and taking advantage of the discount voucher) asap.

image

There’s a bikini pouch to keep your wet cossie in so your bag (and book) stay dry.

A cute tank top with the title of a great 80s classic across it.

image

image

But what I’m interested in most is what beauty treats MLB has in store for subscribers this month.

Too Faced Glitter Glue – designed to keep your glitter on your eyelids, not everywhere else, this primer holds your summer shimmer steady.

Ciate mini polish in the glossip – this coral orange shade is very similar to my usual summer go-to so may just join the ranks of my polish army.

image

From their own My Little Beauty range comes Beach Hair – a sea salt spray designed to give you beachy waves and surfer chic hair – my hair hates salt water (and chlorine) protesting by going a funny colour so my sister will be getting this to use, her hair is much less stroppy (weird when she’s the angsty one).

The box this month was: ok I guess. I’m not blown away by any of it really, the tank top is way too small for my boobs to fit in and the bikini bag will probably get forgotten all about before my next holiday, but the polish and iced tea will definitely get used at some point.

My Little Flower Book – April’s My Little Box

image

This month’s My Little Box has winged its way across the Channel in the guise of a book of flowers, or at least a box pretending to be one.

The box would make a great storage place for keepsakes or make up.

The floral theme continues inside. MLB have collaborated with French fashion house Balzac for this box and included a cute floral print lingerie bag – perfect for your smalls when you travel, or even at home.

image

Also in the box is a tiny pop up garden, perfect for a windowsill or perhaps your desk. Seeds included, a simple, clever way to bring some greenery inside.

image

Onto the beauty bag with three items designed to make you look and smell lovely.

L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Shower Gel – I love L’Occitane, and this peony scented gel smells delicious.

Nails Inc polish – there’s no name on this bottle, usually named for London streets, but it’s a purple-grey colour which looks better on nails than it does in the bottle.

image

My Little Beauty Rosy Mornings Detoxifying Mask – another yummy smelling product from the in-house beauty brand. Packed with vitamin C and designed to brighten complexions, I’m looking forward to treating my face to this colour changing mask.

There’s also the My Little World magazine, with interviews, beauty tips and themed articles to enjoy while the weather makes its mind up.

My Little Bubble Box

image

This month’s My Little Box has arrived and it’s already causing a stir online – some subscribers aren’t very impressed.

image

The problem with theming every box you send out is that sometimes the contents only seem related very tenuously. And that seems to be the crux of the complaints I’ve spotted on social media.

For a box themed around bubbles this is curiously lacking in them. There’s a rather sad looking deflated balloon – think ‘Eeyore has a birthday’ where a mini bottle of bubbles would have made more sense.

image

Anyway, on to the box contents we’re really interested in – the beauty bits.

Firstly there’s a mini make up sponge and a little blue hairbrush.

image

Always nice to have some tools, I use a very similar sponge daily so spares are more than welcome and with my mind-of-its-own hair I can never have too many hair brushes.

Inside the little cloth bag are three beauty products designed to help you glow.

image

🎈Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara – hand bag sized, perfect for touch ups on the go.

🎈My Little Beauty Bubble Blush Lips and Cheek stain – I thought this was nail polish at first but it’s a lip and cheek stain in a matt pink.

🎈Huygens Paris Body Scrub – citrus scented mini tube of scrub to help ready your skin for the post-tights spring we keep hearing rumours about.

As always there’s the in-house magazine My Little World, which not only profiles the box contents but also features articles on Creme Eggs, emojis, Pop Art and a cute fashion spread.

Did you get a Little Bubble Box? What did you think? Let me know in the comments. 🎈🎈

My Little Home Box

February’s My Little Box arrived on the bonus day of the month.

image

The box is all about home, cosying up in the warm, because, well, baby, it’s cold outside.

Inside the box are some sweet little touches for your home and some goodies for your face.

image

There’s a sweet blue picture frame with this month’s illustrated card tucked inside, an excellent holding place while you find your own or not.

There’s also a patterned cushion case to jazz up your sofa, chair or bed. Just add cushion.

There’s also the regular My Little World magazine.

Then there’s the little bag of beauty goodies. This month three items to treat your skin.

My Little Beauty Easy Morning Skin Perfecting cream – apply on its own or under your make up to give skin a healthy glow.

Polaar Genuine Lapland Hand Cream – made with antioxidant rich berries from the Arctic this non-greasy cream soothes frozen fingers and dry winter skin.

Noxidoxi Mask & Peel Perfection Éclat – a skin mask to reveal fresh spring skin  and slough off dead and tired cells.

My Little Wish Box

A new year a new box from My Little Box. Illustrated by regular artist Kamako the box edge offers us the MLB team’s wishes for the upcoming box, which is rather lovely.

image

Inside the colour theme of mint green and soft yellow/orange. As well as a lovely quote card for your wall, there’s a copy of the in-house magazine (and it’s staying a magazine, woohoo!)

image

Then there are the treats, and what a selection they’ve picked.

image

There’s a green and gold diary, perfect if you haven’t already got one, full of little messages and illustrations.

image

The little cloth bag holds three treats, a full size tub of Garnier Miracle Wake Up Cream, a little bottle of Ren 3 – in – 1 micellar cleansing water and a My Little Beauty lip balm.

image

There’s one final treat in the box. A set of message bracelets to wear yourself or give to friends.

image

I’m really happy with this box, MLB had a few weak ones last year but are starting strong in 2016.

The Box That Missed Christmas

My Little Beauty’s My Little Magic Box has been off on its adventures. The December party season themed box has only just made it into my hands.

image

I’m rather glad it turned up and to be honest I was so busy over Christmas I barely noticed. Hope you a great time box.

image

Inside the box, the boat has been well and truly pushed out for the festive season.

My Little World – the in-box magazine is magazine format once more, thank goodness, and I hope it stays that way.

On to the goodies.

The very chic make up bag inside the box, not the usual cloth drawstring, but one you might pop in an overnight bag.

Heat retaining mittens – the funny thing is I was walking to the bus stop in minus 2 the other day and I wished I had some gloves. How funny that these then arrive! I love the navy blue and gold, a theme throughout the box, and they’re really cosy. As someone who’s always tapping away on her phone, mittens are more use the full gloves and as we’re having a bit of a cold snap, these will see a lot of use.

image
The other mitten has bonded with my hand

Kusmi Tea – Anastasia blend. Made in France, these teas definitely have a Russian bent, this one is named after the famous Romanov princess, and is a blend of China and Ceylon teas.

image

Rituals Honey Touch Body Cream – rich and nourishing, with honey and rose.

Vice-Versa nail polishes – continuing the blue and gold colour scheme.

Nars blush in Orgasm – naughty Nars with your cheeky names.

image

It would have been nice to have had this box in December but it will all come in use in this bitter January. I’m actually wearing the mittens as I type this!

My Little Sweet Box

This month MLB managed to get delivered in plenty of time! Hooray.

image

It’s also a tin for treats as opposed to a box, rather sweetly decorated too.

image

Inside are baking themed goodies, including jar labels and a cute apron, as well as some beauty treats. They’ve teamed up with food blogger Mimi Thorisson.

image

image

image

image

image

The beauty items are mostly skincare;

* Dr Pierre Ricaud Neck & Decolletage Lifting Cream – this little pot of cream plumps and perks skin cells.

* Yves Rocher Sensual Fragrance – a rather warm and sexy scent in a tiny bottle of perfume.

* My Little Beauty Sweet Hand Cream – marshmallowy sweetness in a rich and soothing cream.

My Little Creative Box

Another month, another delivery delay from My Little Box. They insist there’s no problems, but Facebook is full of disgruntled customers. If you’re one of them and don’t want any spoilers, look away now.

image

This month’s box has been created in partnership with Pinterest, the online scrapbook. To be honest I don’t really know what’s so creative about the contents of this box.

image

Inside is a selection of beauty products and lifestyle items, along with the fold-out My Little World magazine and illustrated card.

image

image

The beauty products come in their usual dinky drawstring cloth bag (really good for keeping your beauty products tidy when travelling)

This month’s selection are;

image

Left: Un Songe d’Or beauty oil from Aimy, full size, worth £29.
Centre: Talika’s Photo-Hydra Day, full size, worth £43.50
Right: Crème de Minuit, My Little Beauty, full size, worth £15

I’m not really a fan of beauty oils, but a friend of mine loves them, so I shall be passing this one on. I’ve tried the Talika cream in another box and it does what it says, hydrates the skin, something my skin needs as the cold weather sets in. The Crème de Minuit is a night cream, which I might try out, although I’m pretty happy with my current nightly skincare routine.

The lifestyle items this month are a little lacking, and I can’t quite see how they fit with the theme of the box.

image

Wire-wrap beads, MLB, £16 – little plastic beads which wrap round things like headphone wires, which would be fine if I was a teenager still, but I don’t really think they quite work for the twenty and thirty something women who subscribe to the box.

image

image

Canvas tote bag, MLB, £15 – this might not be the most ‘creative’ item but as the new 5p charge has come in for plastic bags, it will be useful. It folds up quite small, so you can pop in your handbag when you head to the shops.

Overall, not the greatest box and not really worth the wait for it. It’s nice to have full size products but a bit of variety would have been nice, and I think if you’re going to have a theme then you really need to make sure the items fit the theme.

Are you a MLB subscriber? What did you think of this month’s box?

My Little Fashion Box

You would think after the palaver this summer with boxes going awol, MLB would have switched back to Royal Mail, but no, so the boxes are still filtering out. September’s almost over, and fashion weeks have drawn to a close.

image

September’s box is themed around fashion week with the box illustration of the infamous Front Row (Frow in fashion speak according to the press).

image

Inside is another of in-house artist Kamako’s illustrations, the fold out magazine My Little World and a host of fashionable goodies.

image

Nail decals designed just for MLB, not something I would use, but I have a friend with a thing for nail art so she’ll probably love these.

image

A gorgeous patterned scarf. I love scarves, I own hundreds, they’re the best accessory. You can wear them so many ways, I got the blue one but there is also a black one in some boxes.

image

Then there’s the beauty products. As always there’s a French slant to them.

La Roche-Posay Effacler K(+) – according to the beauty bloggers I follow, this stuff relieves greasy skin, clears up spots and leaves you less shiny. I have combination skin so hopefully it’ll leave me with an even skin tone during the shinier moments.

image

Kerastase Couture Styling Laque Noir – a water-free, fuzz busting, humidity preventer. Which would come in very handy for those mornings where you need less stresses in your tresses.

image

My Little Beauty Red Dingue de lui – lip stain, from their in-house brand. It’s a rich cherry red colour, with serious staying power (I can’t scrub it off my hand!).

All of this is wrapped in MLB’s swanky packaging, printed bag, ribbon, box.

Now if only they could sort out their deliveries.

My Little Gypset Box

image

Gypset is the French for Gypsy (hat tip Google), and MLB are using it in the free-spirit sense, boho chic meets on the road.

image

There’s an interesting mix of beauty and lifestyle items in this box.

As usual there’s an illustration from in-house artist Kanako – this one features a quote from Jack Kerouac, author of On The Road.

image

There’s a patterned bag (seen in the illustration) to carry your wandering essentials, and hair ties that double as bracelets, something I’ve noticed has popped up more and more. These are really cute and soft so will definitely feature in my hair. The bag is cute too. It’s quite small but handy for your essentials, could pop it inside a larger bag for everyday.

image

image

In terms of beauty items, there are three full size treats;

image

Korres Santorini Vine Body Milk – this is supposed to smell like a blossoming Greek vineyard which I couldn’t quite smell but then again I’m never any good at wine tasting – it doesn’t smell like autumn leaves or blackberries – just wine.

So Susan Colour Hybrid cheek and lip tint – this is a deep cherry red, I think teemed with cat’s eyes liner and a hint of shimmer in your skin would work well.

image

My Little Beauty Summer Caress Bronzer – from their in-house range, this is a soft peachy bronzer that would suit different skin tones depending on how much you blended/layered it on.

image

The lip stain won’t budge BTW, but the bronzer needs to be deeper I think.
